This is just an update on the state of the KyleWith Podcast update. Don’t worry, it is not going anywhere.

Sponsoring

First and for most I’m looking for a new sponsor. All audio files are hosted with a special Podcast Host for maximum quality, but there is also a monthly cost. There is also a percentage of my website hosting that can be attributed to this podcast as it is one of the biggest referrals to my site. On top of that I spend just over two hours an episode, recording, processing and posting. I love doing these types of projects and would try to do it without help, but at the same time I would like to break even on my costs.

If you or your company is interested in sponsoring the KyleWith Podcast please contact me. I’m offering a 60 second slot within each episode going forward, talking about you or your business. I am also offering an ad spot or link mention within the Podcast episode post on KyleWith.com.

Subscription or Donate

If you don’t want to sponsor an entire show, but still believe in what I am doing, there are a couple of ways you can help. The first option is a monthly subscription and the second is a one time donation. I would be extremely thankful for either option. Both options are through Paypal’s Secure Payment system, and there is also an option to pay without a Paypal account.

Coming Soon

As I mention in this episode, the reason for no shows recently is because I’m in the midst of moving. I had to take down my mixing board and mic, so no shows could be done. I’m hoping by next week I’ll be up and running again (with a sponsor by then… hint hint) with another great show. I have 5 photographers in mind to talk to and will be contacting them in the near future.
I apologize for being so blunt about asking for a sponsorship, but I want to continue delivering these great episodes showcasing Northern – and some southern – talent. If you have any ideas for me, please feel free to contact me

Robbie Craig’s Northern Projects were first introduced to me by mutual friend Dave Brosha. Robbie’s art can be classed as impressionism, which is very similar to well-known artist Graeme Shaw. He says though that his paintings are more abstract with lots of bold colours. Robbie likes to describe it as funky and wild.

Robbie Craig - The Three of Me

6 years ago Robbie and his wife moved to the Northwest Territories, to the community of Wekweeti. There he and his wife managed the school for a year, before moving to Behchoko to also work in the local school. They have been there since, but as of June of 2011 moved right into Yellowknife as they were expecting their first child and since the painting sales had started to pick up.

Like many others that I have talked with, Robbie’s art is his passion and was a hobby before anything else. He explains to me in more detail in the show that he needed a hobby when not working during the long winter nights, out in Behchoko. That was when he rediscovered his passion for painting.

Since then his art has really taken off. He has sold many of his paintings and even taught a course at one of the Diamond Mines north of Yellowknife. Robbie talks about so much more in the show about what and who inspires him, how he creates a painting and what is in the future. So be sure to listen.

The Show

This Thursday, December 8th, Robbie will be having a show in joint with one of his inspirations, Graeme Shaw, at Visual Effects in Yellowknife. Facebook Event here. He will be featuring some work that has yet to be seen, so it promises to be a good show. You should go.

Be sure to check out Robbie’s website and his Facebook Page.

Dave Brosha is one of the photographers I have always looked up to. I taught me the basics of photography; knowledge which I use everyday. So why I find he such a great photographer is not only that he is a great photographer, but also that he is willing to teach those who want to learn.

Dave’s adventure started in the Resolute Bay, which is in the Canadian Arctic, where he wanted to started taking picture to showcase to his family back home. His photography slowly progressed and he also moved to Yellowknife, NT. He realized it was a passion and his and wanted to pursue it. He slowly took on clients and built up his name while still having the stability of a 9-to-5 job. Finally he took the plunge one day and quit his job and started doing photography full-time, he hasn’t looked back since.

Nowadays, Dave isn’t limited to Yellowknife, where he and his family lives. He has traveled as far north as Alert, as south Australia and has been to Egypt twice. He has traveled to these places on writing assignments for magazines or to document a friend living an adventure. He makes the point those that he is very fortunate to have the opportunities that he has had.

We go much more into detail about how his business grew and where he has been in the show. Dave also shares with me what is in his bag and who inspires him. So be sure to listen.

Be sure to check out his website and his blog and is ever-growing Facebook Page.

World on Fire (2011).

Coal Photography

Coal Photography first came to my attention just after he was up in Kugluktuk taking photos with Dave Brosha. Since then I have been glued to the photos the man behind the name, Alexander Legaree, has produced. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to get him on the line and talk about his photography.

Alexander calls the NWT home and has for many years, but not only that, he calls it his inspiration for photography. Ever since the age of 4, Alexander his been into photography, but it really became a passion when he was living in Sweden in 2003. He says “I haven’t looked back since” and his photos show that. Alexander also shares with me he favourite genre of photography, who inspires him and what he is up to next, all in the show.

I highly recommend everyone check out his website and like his page on Facebook.

KW25: Google+ Photography and Accountability

Subscribe via iTunes

Well this is an impromptu little episode of my newly named KyleWith show.  In this episode:

Photography

I talk about my journey to find my niche in the photography world. I mention how I still haven’t found my style and don’t mind. I’m always looking for new ways to learn.

Google+ for Photographers

One of those ways to learn is through Google Plus. It is full of a lot of great content for photographers at all levels.

Social Accountability

Finally I switch topics and go back to the Social Media. You know the whole do as I say, not as I do rant. All I’m saying is, if you want to get into Social Media, you (we) need to be accountable.

That is all for now. Remember I need people to come on this show with me. Invite them, send them my way.

Little episode about something I am up to.

First thing on the agenda I mention a new format of how I want to produce Kyle’s Corner or rather KyleWith podcast – yeah I’m going to rename it, maybe – and how it will involve you. It is going to be something like “KyleWith insert name here“. I am hoping to talk to everyday folks about who they are, what they do or what they are representing. I want to talk to you, whoever you are, so email me kyle (at) kylewith.com or leave a comment or @KyleWith on Twitter.

Second thing is the self promoting Facebook Page I made for myself, yeah I’m trying to boost my own ego. Initially I was doing it so I could secure Facebook.com/KyleWith, but then I did that and it continued to grow. So if you want to stay up on Social Media, my Travels, food reviews and my podcast go Like the page.
