Project Yellowknifer by Pat Kane

Project Yellowknifer

I’m not sure if Pat is still doing this project, but when he does the gala I would love to be there.

Pat is the Photo Editor of UpHere Mag and will be the next guest my podcast. I have already talked with him and it went great, I can’t wait to share it.

I found this blog post of his after I had talked with him and realized that we actually share similar interests. It seems we both love capturing people and telling their stories. While Pat maybe better at it than I, I still like to share the stories of the people I come across.

This project of his especially interests me as it is on the people of Yellowknife, my hometown. Head to his blog at the link above to watch the video.

Oh yes and watch for the podcast with my talk with Pat Kane coming soon.

So what if Zuckerberg killed a Bison

I think the coverage of this is a little ridiculous. I love the face that Mark is doing this, he is learning about where his food is coming from, how to prepare it and how to be healthier and wiser about what he eats.

The problem is that most of North America does realize that people hunt for their food all the time. WELL COME TO RURAL CANADA PEOPLE!!!! I grew up out hunting for Caribou as it was a lot cheaper to get than beef, same with Moose. Here in the Peace Region of Western Canada, elk, deer, moose are all very common to hunt for food.

It isn’t that we are uncivilized, it that we have an opportunity and we take it. Spending the money on a tag and one, two or three weekends to get a moose that will provide a family for many months is about the smartest things a person can do in my mind. PLUS IT IS ALL NATURAL! Leave Zuck along.

Disney Pixar’s BRAVE Trailer

I was wondering the other day after the theatrical release of Cars 2 if Pixar was moving away from their warm hearted, meaningful movies to the money makers. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure Cars 2 is great, but it seems a little to much like riding a franchise wave to me. That and Pirates of the Caribbean 4, but that isn’t Pixar.

Released yesterday was a short trailer for Pixar’s next film “Brave”. It doesn’t show us much. Kevin McKidd, of Grey’s fame, does a voice over for it, as a lone person rides a horse through a forest in search for something. The final scene of the trailer then shows us this young girl, who was the rider, taking aim with her bow at a bear.

I’m not even sure what the storyline will be for this movie, but it does look good.

Thoughts? Anyone else excited?

Spring Day in Dawson Creek

Over the weekend I spent one night down in Dawson Creek visiting with friends who had just moved into town from their acreage just out of town. One could day Dawson Creek is my old stomping ground… for 2 months anyway. I did attempt to go to school there at the NLC Campus. You can read about it by going through my Dawson Creek tag on here.

We decided to go on a Photography adventure along the walking path that goes through part of the residential area. The colours were slightly dull and I didn’t feel very inspired but here are a couple random, which I boosted the colour on.

Charlie Sheen is Micky Ward

So I just got my cable hooked up finally, even if it is just black and white at the moment. Anyways, I turned on telly and I see Charlie Sheen on a talk showing giving his side of the “whole story”

What he is saying is beyond me, it all sounds gibberish. What it reminds me of is Micky Ward. Who is Micky, well you would need to watch The Fighter. He was a boxer who became a drug addict, but wouldn’t admit it until he ended up in jail.

Charlie Sheen

I think he does need help, he really does need something radical to happen so that he realizes his problem, even if he is clean. It is obvious by his attitude, expressions and gestures. What do you think.
