Ptarmi Bob on a Plane to Chicago

Well like I mentioned, Ptarmi Bob is with me on my trip to Chicago for Drupalcon.

This isn’t the first time Bob has flown, he actually flew back to Fort St John with me when I was visiting Yellowknife.

He is the perfect travel companion, because he is so small and relatively quite. There are times though that he can get a little out of control. Maybe it is the 2-4′s he gets into.

Bob is looking forward to Chicago. He has never experienced weather like theirs before. He wonders if his fluffy feather will change to grey because it is to warm, but I told him not to worry.

We land around 12pm and then head straight to the hotel. After than we may start our adventure of exploring the unknown urban jungle that is the windy city.

The Ptarmi have been named!

As you know the other day, like a week or two ago, I asked around for some ideas for names for my two Ptarmi. If I’m going to be writing about them, I needed name right.

Thanks to Megan’s suggestion, it rekindled my memories of my favourite two Canadian characters, Bob and Doug McKenzie. They had a TV show back in the 80′s all about being a hoser. Go Google them, they’re awesome.

Anyways, I really like these guys and what they stand for, so I thought in honour of them, I’d name my two Ptarmi after them. These little guys are indeed a Canadian Bird after all. So I’d like to welcome Bob and Doug Ptarmi to the family. Officially.

Naming the Ptarmi

As you can see they are wearing stereotypical Canadian wear in light of there new names. Unfortunately only Bob will be coming with me to Chicago tomorrow (will fill you in later) while Doug stays home to watch the office.

First Snow Outting with Big Ptarmi

Remember I’m still trying to name these two Ptarmi’s over on an earlier post. So please leave a comment with your name suggestions and I will hopefully pick soon.

Anyways, this Sunday was the first time my bigger Ptarmi got a chance to play in the snow. We have just come out of a big snowstorm here in Fort St. John. So I let him loose in the parking lot of my office, where he got to play in the snow tracks of my Jeep.

First Snow Outing Being native to Yellowknife, he quite enjoyed his time back in the snow and -25 whether we were currently having. As he rolled around in the snow he thought to himself, “boy I really wish someone would name me, go see this earlier post to name me.

There was one more activity, that this little big guy wanted to do before heading back in. Build a snowman! The snow isn’t currently good enough to build a proper snowman, but we managed by finding some snow blocks.

First Snow Outing The best part about being a kid, for me anyways, was trying to build a snowman that was 10 times your size. I guess you could say that’s exactly what this little guy did, he built a snowman twice his size. Okay maybe I did help a little bit, but still. I did try to give this no man a bit of personality by giving it eyeholes in the nose. Except now he looks frightened and scared of this little bird, I apologize.

As you can see this little guy did have fun out there, and hopes to take his younger brother with him again soon.  By the way I’m not crazy for talking about a stuffed bird in my?

Help me name the Ptrami Brothers

As you know, back in December I adopted Mini Ptarmi but unfortunately I didn’t write about him as much as I wanted to. I do want to change that though and maybe with the addition of a friend it will. I would like to introduce to the family middle Ptarmi. He’s like a big brother to mini Ptarmi, but not the biggest brother.

The reason I wanted to introduce him, is because I now have a name crisis. they are both Ptarmis, but what do I call them. I didn’t think Mini and Middle is good enough for these to as they travel around with me. Nor do I think Orange and Green is fitting either. What shall it be.

My idea is that they will travel around with me and be the spotlight for my Ptarmi section on my blog. Obviously because Middle is bigger and older he wont be coming to many places I fly to, but Mini will. So I need names for these little guys.

I would like you to help. Leave a comment down below of two names you think are fitting for these guys. Make sure you specify which is which.

Once I get a couple different ideas, I will pick the my favourite and we’ll go from there and they will forever be known that. I know one adventure coming up will take Mini to USA. Exciting!

Ptarmi comes to Northern BC

While in Yellowknife this past holiday season I was lucky enough to adopt a new addition to my one person family. No I didn’t adopt a friendly dog from the SPCA, although you should, I adopted a Ptarmi. You see, several times a year Janet Pacey ends up with litters of these little guys just looking for homes. Thanks to my mom I had the opportunity to take one in. Luckily this little guy is able to fit into tiny spaces for traveling and doesn’t make a mess when left alone.

Ptarmi will now be my traveling buddy and accompany me to many events. He will be seen all over Northern BC. His first stop is a little acreage just west of Chetwynd, BC. You see although most of Northern BC, Alberta and NWT was quite chilled Ptarmi wanted to get out of the house and see what was around him.

He got to see a nice sunset overlooking a field and took up waving at travellers on the Hart Highway. He plans to make his way to Fort St John tomorrow and experience life with me there.

If there is a place you want to see Ptarmi, let me know and I’ll try and get him there. If you want to adopt a Ptarmi and give one a good home you can find one here.
