Here are more photos from while I stayed in downtown Honolulu. It was an amazing view from my 9th floor balcony, the beach, a busy street and an endless ocean. Just up the street were many buildings from that were built when Hawaii was still young. A day or two later I went up the Aloha Tower, which was nee to see the city behind us and the ocean in front of us.

I was asked on Twitter to update everyone with some photos of my trip in Hawaii. Currently where I am staying does not have the greatest Internet therefore I have not been doing much online. Anyways lets start a week ago and we’ll try to catch up. The following few photos are from the Apple store in Waikiki where I waited in line for an iPad the day of the launch. That was a neat experience. If you want to see all the photos go to my Flickr Page.

I get in to Honolulu around 7pm local time and from where we head to Waikiki Beach for the weekend. Our hotel is right on the beach. More importantly It is on about 30 seconds from the Apple Store, Hello iPad.

On Monday we will then be traveling up the North Shore, where we’ll be for the rest of the time.

I have been looking forward to this day for a while, not because I get to get out of Yellowknife, but more that I love airports and flying. To me there is just something about it, I think it is the sense of adventure, that and maybe you’ll all sorts of other people moving, travelling, where ever they are going. I love long lay overs, it gives me time to explorer the airport and see what everyone does.

Like I said we are heading to Vancouver, I’ll probably be publishing this in the airport there. Curse the no WiFi on this flight. I haven’t been to Vancouver in 10 years. The closest I made it over the last decade was last summer made it to Chiliwack. I don’t even remember the airport now, I only really remember a big poster of the Vancouver Grizzlies, which no longer exist.

Hopefully over the next 2 weeks you’ll see some picture and video up here of the trip. If I do get an iPad, nothing is decided, that I will most deffinetly do an unboxing video. I am that Geekly.

Anyways the pilots is telling everyone that we will be landing very shortly. If I get bored on my next flight, I will be sure to write some more.

Someday I will live in a place where I only need to take one flight to get to where I’m going, but until then I will stick with Yellowknife.

I am currently in the Edmonton Airport and am halfway home. This morning was like any other, I got up at 7am had breakfast, showered and turned on the computer. I had packed everything the previous night and was ready to go. I did although need to do some dishes, which is always a joy. No really, it helps me relax and get my mind off things. Anyways, just before 10am pacific time I hit the road from Dawson Creek to Grande Prairie. When I arrived in GP 1 hour and 20 minutes later it was 12:20….. pick up on that?

When I drove in to Grande Prairie the blizzard that is everywhere in the NWT and Alberta hit and there was very low visibility and because of that my Air Canada flight delayed 20 minute. No matter we got off the ground thank goodness and arrived in Edmonton. Although when I arrived in Edmonton and went to get my bags, I waited and waited and waited until I gave up on my second checked in bag. I went to AC’s luggage desk they told me it would be in Yellowknife by tonight or tomorrow morning, thanks guys. Luckily I did get my important bag, which has some electronics in it. By the way, thinking about it, I am currently traveling with $4000 worth of electronics. Now if that doesn’t say geek I don’t know what does.

I check in for my Canadian North flight to Yellowknife and found out the flight isn’t yet full and I may get a row to myself. Thank you Canadian North, gotta support the locals, right.

So here I sit typing away, watching people rush by. Oh and the one thing I love about the Edmonton Airport is, you’ll always run into someone you know.

See you in Yellowknife

Doing it again.

Oh well. How was your week? If you follow either of my 2 other blogs you know I am still online but busy with them to update my personal one.

I’m not sure if I talked about what I was up to last week or not so I will recap. Last Saturday, the 5th, Bev and I drove to Grande Prairie so I could pick up a couple things. One, being my new 5-in-1 laser printer, which I will be using for school as well as for business documents and fliers. I am quite happy with it and considering it was $100 off I couldn’t complain. The second being a backup drive, a long over due backup drive. I have 13,000 photos, hundreds of documents and lots of files to do with all the website stuff that have never been backed up. Yes I know, bad Kyle. Anyways Bestbuy had a good deal on a 1TB external USB drive so I went for it. We were able to have a treat for lunch, Arby’s of course. I was thinking it at least.

That afternoon we came back to East Pine after dropping the printer off at my apartment. The next day was definitely a dull Sunday. None of us had any ambition to do much so we thought we would go for a drive. A drive through Grande Prairie and on into Valleyview where the weather was a little nicer. After having super we jumped back into the van and began the 3-½ hour drive back. I was the lucky one as I was only going as far as Dawson Creek to my apartment.

Monday I don’t remember very well. I’m sure I just hung around my apartment working online for most of the day. During the week I mixed work with school and enjoyed it.

I’m not sure if it because the school year is still young or what but it doesn’t seem like this college has very much of a student community. Just seems like everyone comes for their classes and then disappears back into their own lives.

My next post I think I will talk about my and the community of Dawson and the College.

How was your week?

I did not proofread this post nor do I think it makes sense. Thanks for reading.

I have decided to try and do at least a weekly post here in this little coffee shop I have started to come to. Unfortunately I still cannot get WiFi in here which is really disappointing but I will live for now. A bonus to not having Internet while in here is that it helps me focus on writing these journal entries.

So lets look at the week past. It was the “Official” start to school but we really did not get into any material therefore I would just class it as an icebreaker week. I think I am going to really enjoy it. Throughout my five classes there are only about five other students and only one other male in these classes. Whether or not a good thing I think it has already been established that I am the most out going in the class. Generally being the first to speak and engage a discussion. I don’t mind this but I also don’t want to be seen as the student who knows it all.

This week because of school I didn’t really focus on any work here online but as I get in a routine everything will work its self out. Another routine that I can’t wait to start, will be biking to school rather than driving the truck. I decided to bring the truck to town at the start of the week so I could use it for the first week of school as I didn’t know how much stuff I would have and how rushed I might be. As the week has gone by now I can see that nothing will be rushed unless I stop looking at the clock so I will start using my bike on Tuesday.

I guess I should mention what I was up to last weekend as well. I ended up out at East Pine again. Went quading with a friend and some coworkers who showed us the area. We were also on the look out for moose as it is a goal of my friend to get at least a moose, deer, or elk this fall. As we were out riding around in the hot dry weather the dust was everywhere and throughout the day I guess it was collecting, collecting on my face. Upon returning to the house I looked in the mirror and barely recognized myself, I had a thick layer of dirt on my face, in my nose, under my eyelids and in my mouth. A picture was taken of this monster but I have yet to see the picture. When I do I will be sure to post it up for everyone to see the horror.

On to this weekend, which I don’t think will be as exciting but just as fun. Saturday morning I will be heading to Grande Prairie for a day trip (I love living south sometimes). There I will be picking up a new laser printer as my old one hit the floor, literally. While traveling south at the end of July it came loose in the camper and crashed to the floor from 5 feet up. This new printer will also serve for business purposes as well as for school. I am also going to be picking up an external hard drive for back-up purposes. Future Shop has a good deal on a 1TB drive for $99.

Sunday I will be spending here in Dawson for once working and exploring the town, hopefully. Sunday night or Monday morning I will head out to East Pine to get rid of the truck and that will start next week.

Man I love this Café….

To start I know many of you also read YkOnline and will probably be mad at me for somewhat abandoning that site but you must understand that I did not want to do that and I will try not to. The challenge will be keeping it current, as I don’t live in Yellowknife anymore it will be hard to be in the middle of what is happen. But this post is not about YkOnline.

This post is about the new community site I have launched. As you might know it is called Dawson Online and is intended for Dawson Creek, BC and its surrounding area. This site has many features to it. The main one being a hyper local blog. I, along with others I hope, will blog about Dawson Creek. Dawson Creek although thought to be just a small farm town by outsiders is actually a very lively city, there is much more going on here than meets the eye and the point of this blog is to expose some of that. I intent to have positive reviews, events, local issues, editorials, history and posts on anything interesting in the area. The other big feature to this site is the Classified section. While trying to find a place to live before moving down here I realized that Dawson does not offer a online classified site so I built one. It can be found here http://classifieds.dawsononline.ca. Some other features of the site will be the local online forum and event calender.

The site is still young but if it goes anything like YkOnline I will be very pleased.

Well I’m wait for a movie rental to download from iTunes, which is 1.65gb and estimates it will take a hour so I thought this would be a perfect time to just send out a little update.

I am officially living in my apartment. As many of you probably know I took a bit of a road trip, traveling down from Dawson Creek through Jasper National Park, Yoho National Park and into Southern BC. It was all very gorgeous and someday I plan on returning. I took over 700 photos while on the go but didn’t have the chance to upload any as my internet connection for the most part were restricted, which lead me to my next topic of conversation.

Internet is becoming much more accessible, now don’t get me wrong I am the first person to promote this but I was definitely taken back finding Internet in some of the places I did. I was camping my way around BC and by camping I don’t mean a 35-foot RV or Trailer. I mean good old tent camping and that is where I found the WiFi. In the campground, now granted some of the campgrounds were RV Parks and I can see why they might offer it there but in some places it was just bizarre. While on the stretch coming home the only campground that could be found was a tiny one on the outskirts of Clinton, BC which is north of Cache Creek which is west of Kamloops. The campground was privately owned by an older gentleman and his wife and by the looks of them I would have never guessed they even knew what the Internet was. So upon settling in for supper I started playing with my trusty iPhone and realized there was a WiFi network for the grounds and with it being locked I investigated by asking the man. Sure enough by paying $3 I got myself some semi decent working Internet for the evening. It just goes to show that the Internet is being more of a necessity just like the way cell phones did.

As I’m certain I will probably get quite bored between now and when school starts expect some more detailed posts from me. Tomorrow should be one with picture of the new apartment…. Again.

Seems like the Internet Gods are preventing me from having Internet steadily.

At my apartment I was suppose to get my Shaw Modem earlier today but it did not arrive. I’m hoping it comes tomorrow (Friday) so I can have internet for the weekend. Dawson Creek also advertises they have free WiFi Internet with in the downtown core for tourists. Now my apartment falls in this area but for some reason their Internet isn’t working either. Drives me nuts.

That is why I haven’t been posting much on this site as well as YkOnline. Unfortunately this wont be changing for at least a week. I’m heading out on a BC Road Trip and probably wont be online for days at a time.

Thanks to Days Inn I was able to publish this quickly.
