Have you ever seen a Rapping Chickening

First off, I’m sorry for teasing you. I also apologize to vegetarians. This is my badass chicken that doesn’t even have a name other than goodness. It is a chicken breast, stuffed with ricotta and sage (not a big fan of the sage, but not bad) and then wrapped in prosciutto.

As for the photo itself, well it was while I was actually cooking it and I did use my SB-600 to lighten it up. I also then started playing with it in Topaz Adjust (I’m going to get addicted to this, please stop me).

City of Yellowknife should embrace Facebook

I have not yet actually read the article that the Yellowknifer has written about the City of Yellowknife having a study done about whether they should get into social media or not. I don’t even know if that’s actually what it’s about. I’m assuming this study says something like they should look into finally getting on Facebook and creating the City an official Page. I could be wrong though.

I am very thrilled to hear this news, if that is the case, it is a very positive thing. I feel the City of Yellowknife needs to do more two-way conversations with its residence, other than just public meetings. Facebook is now one of the best ways to connect with people.

That being said we have to remember that social media can be a double-edged sword for those who are prepared. As great as it is to reach out to the community; to get their feedback and keep them informed, there’ll also be complainers. I know this first hand having spoken to some of the people taking care of the City of Fort St. John’s page. A lot of residents use it as an outlet to complain. That is why I run around saying a good strategy–social media strategy–is an absolute must.

But creating this strategy is not just a walk in the park. Ask any person who actually works as a social media marketer how difficult it is; it has to be taken seriously. I don’t say this because I am a person who helps organizations and businesses create these strategies, but I say this as someone who wants to see these organizations and businesses succeed.

Someone who’s familiar with this type of work should be used to help create one of these documents.  Goals, weaknesses, benefits, best practices and so on should all be pointed out in one of these documents. It should not only outline what wants to be achieved, but also protect whoever is creating the document for everyone’s sake.

I’m not sure how far along the City of Yellowknife is in getting on Facebook, but I look forward to seeing them there. I’m also curious to know what other people think. What do you want to see from them if they did join Facebook?

Subscribe via iTunes

I started following Nancy (@MoneyCoach) on twitter in 2009 and since then she has been a huge inspiration for me and has always encourage me to go further and keep doing what I’m doing. But before I met Nancy and before she moved to Yellowknife, she started a Money Coaching business, called Your Money by Design.

In Vancouver she would help people understand their finance better, but that was soooo 1.0, now YMbD is about to launch 2.0 and will be totally ONLINE. Nancy explains to me in the show how she became to be MoneyCoach and how YMbD 2.0 works.

To top it all off, she will be having a Virtual Launch Party, yes I said Virtual and Launch Party. September 10. All the details will be on here blog at NancyZimmerman.com

Be sure to also Like her Facebook Page and Mine as well – don’t forget to subscribe via iTunes.

Grillin with my Food Photography

Food and Photography are my two biggest hobbies right now. I say hobby for food, because I no longer try to cook the quickest meal, I take my time and have fun with it.

I wouldn’t call my food photography professional as well, because I don’t want to stick it in a box with a bunch of light and make it look perfect. I much prefer the natural progression of food. Like this food, I took it of the food I was actually going to eat, and blog about later.

John Goodman on Community is Awesome

I became a fan of the TV Show Community in June when a friend showed it to me on Netflix. I have also been a fan of John Goodman since the Flinstones and Rosanne.

Now the two have come together in EPICNESS. I love this trailer and I think I’m going to love his character.

Watch it and tell me how good it is!

Pesto Cream Cheese Snack

Often times we don’t have time for making a big meal or rather we don’t have the ambition. That is when I resort this quick snack. It is dead simple and doesn’t take much.

Needed:

  • French Baguette
  • Pesto
  • Cream Cheese

I don’t mix the Pesto with the Cream Cheese, but you could. I simply just spread them each individually on slices of the baguette. It taste so good and is good for a quick snack or a party appy.
