I hear what you're saying. I don't blog for money, I blog for fun, but I know what you mean about wanting to make something out of it.

Keep at it! :) Already asking questions like this shows you are dedicated to improving and finding new opportunities :)

Hmm, tough question.

I'm always one for suggestion people pursue their passion, but at the same time you have to make sure not to let your future collapse. If you know you can easily fall back on something, or that your skills won't get rusty, then it's less of a risk to do your own thing.

You can always blog and create podcasts part time, but that can be difficult to do.

On a commercial note, what do people export from your region or what do tourists come for? Both of these trades represent cash changing hands on a regular basis and some type of commercial opportunity.

If your interests don't intersect these areas then you'll just have to be very talented and interesting. If you get a big enough audience you'll eventually think of something.

Making money is simple. You have to do something that people will pay money for, and then make sure you find the people who are willing to pay money, and sell it to them. So: do people want to pay for your blog and podcasts, and if so, who are those people and how do you get a hold of them?

I don't have answers to your questions, but for sure I can say this: you are going through a classic entrepreneur moment! And trust me (voice of experience) you'll have lots of them. But you'll also have moments of exhilaration - I'm sure you have had them already. And above all, something about creating and making money from what you create, gives a degree of self-confidence that nothing matches.
One thing I did that helped me through these moments is create a small community of other entrepreneurs. We met weekly over lattes to share our goals for the coming week, brainstorm ideas if one of us was struggling with something, and most of all to cheer each other on.
I highly recommend this, if possible for you.
