I was recently talking to a friend about how a newspaper viewed one of my blogs. I have mixed feels on the mater. I can see why they may think I am a threat but I can also see that, that is not possible. I do not report news, they do. I only feature local things. Things such as events, businesses, people, etc. I realize they do this as well but I just think we are still two different mediums.
Take a listen to this episode of Kyle’s Corner and hear more of my thoughts about media in Yellowknife and my role in it.

No offense but I’d have to disagree on the old media/new media topic.
I certainly take my laptop with when I go to coffee shops, libraries, school, and bookstores with reading areas. Literally the last time I’ve seen a newspaper in months was in one of those boxes outside of a Burger King..otherwise, I don’t even see people with them, of course they could be in their bags or hidden.
My second thing was that I think newspapers are worrying about the big bloggers taking over. Those blogs that get thousands of hits a day like TMZ. I think they’re going to be making less and less newspapers but those companies who make the papers will still be in good shape because they’re also online.
I’ve actually read an article last week or the week before that was talking about how magazines might start switching to technology where the subscriber would pay to receive the issues on some sort of portable device (weather that’s a cell phone or not).
Anyway, I just thought I’d say what I was thinking. I could be wrong though.
